Tellus English Language Scholarship

We are looking for partners (limited to 35 Scholarships per partner) to promote the Tellus English Language Scholarship (TELS) and, should you be interested, would like to invite you to apply. The commitment the participating partners need to make is as follows:

1. Promoting the scholarship programme in their countries or regions
2. Supporting the applicants in completing their applications
3. Verifying that the applicants' registration forms are correct
4. Validating that the applicants meet our minimum language level requirement (pre-intermediate or above).
5. We are not able to pay commission on this scholarship but it legitimate for you to charge applicants a small fee to   cover your expenses and effort. You will, however, also keep the €45 administration fee that successful applicants must   pay you upon acceptance by us. If you want to send students paying full fees (not scholarship) you will receive a 20 /   25% commission.

Details of the Tellus English Language Scholarship (TELS)

This scholarship is aimed at making a significant improvement in the students' level of English while also enhancing the lives of others. The scholarship was launched in 2007. Following the success of the first year and because there are available funds it is to be continued for 2008/09. Entries will not be considered after 31st of December 2008, and all successful applicants are required to start and finish their course between October 08 and May 09.

Candidates are accepted only if their applications have been approved by a Scholarship Partner.

The scholarship covers 75 per cent of tuition fees on our 15 hour General English Programme. This programme would normally cost €180 but, in the scholarship programme, it would only cost €45.00 per week, a reduction of €135.00. However, the scholarship does not cover accommodation, travel, travel insurance etc., and applicants must be able to demonstrate that they can pay for such extra costs. Students can arrange their own accommodation or can use our service, for example, Host Family (Home stay) Half Board, which is breakfast and evening meal, €175 Person per week or Host Family (Home Stay) Full Board, which is breakfast, packed lunch and evening meal, €189 Person per week. Tellus may be able to support applicants with financial hardship who will be studying for three months by assisting them to find part-time work. There is an administration fee of €45 to be paid to agents upon us accepting the applicant as a scholarships student. This administration fee covers costs incurred by them in checking your English level and processing the application.

Successful candidates are to study a course from the minimum of three months up to the maximum of twelve months.

The application process is simple. First, students fill in the registration form, but the key criterion is the supporting statement, in which they must detail in 250-300 words why an improvement in their English skills would improve the lives of others. Then, they must submit this to the participating partner who will ensure the application is complete and that the applicant meets the minimum standard of language level. Next, the partner will forward us the application for our approval and selection. Finally, the partner will be informed within seven days of receipt if the applicant has been successful who will in turn advise the applicant.
